You no longer need to pay for Gemini to consider your personal information and response instructions for every request. The free version also benefits from document analysis.

The free version of Gemini finally becomes a real personalized AI assistant

A few months ago, Google equipped Gemini with a memory so that the assistant could better take into account the context and your personal information, allowing it to adapt its responses to your situation. But this feature very useful was until now exclusive to Gemini Advanced, the paid version of the platform. Good news, it is starting to be deployed to all users.

It therefore becomes possible to give instructions and general information to Gemini, which will remember them without having to be reminded at each prompt. This could be the way you want the assistant to respond, or specific data about you, the aim being to personalize the experience.

Gemini free is catching up with Gemini Advanced

Here are some examples shared by Google of information or instructions that can be given to Gemini to get more relevant results:

  • Use simple language and avoid slang
  • I am vegetarian, so do not suggest recipes with meat
  • After answering, include a Spanish translation
  • When planning the trip, include the cost per day
  • I can only write code in JavaScript
  • I prefer short and concise answers

This information can be entered in the Gemini settings, from the mobile app or the web service. You can also ask Gemini to add such an instruction itself with a simple prompt. 9To5Google specifies that the extension of the availability of this feature to free accounts is still in progress, and that not everyone has access to it yet.

The free version of Gemini is in any case becoming more and more interesting. Recently, it has also received the ability to upload documents to submit them to analysis by the AI assistant, an option that was, there again, reserved for Advanced subscribers since its release a few months ago.
