The Last of Us III finally in production?

The Last of Us III finally in production?

Where are we with The Last Of Us Part III? Last year, at the end of the documentary Grounded Part II, Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann confirmed that there was a good chance that there could be a sequel to The Last Of Us. But, a few days ago, the situation turned around as this same Neil Druckmann advised fans not to get their hopes up too much. Today, an insider confirms that the game is indeed in production and at a fairly advanced stage.

The Last Of Us Part III is reportedly in development

The Last of Us III finally in production?

Is Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann bluffing to try to deflect attention from The Last Of Us Part III? After the announcement of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet in December, as well as The Last Of Us Part II Remastered for PC, and then news of the The Last Of Us series on HBO, Naughty Dog has a lot of news on its plate. So, The Last Of Us Part III is probably not a priority.

This is probably why Neil Druckmann said a few days ago during an interview with Variety that we should probably not bet on a sequel to the game. However, a few hours ago, it was insider DanielRPK who responded to contradict Neil Druckmann. On his Patreon account, the insider claims that the game is indeed in advanced production and that new actors have been cast. Scenes are also already recorded, implying that the Motion Capture stage has begun and that the game is at a fairly advanced stage.

The release of The Last Of Us Part II Remastered on PC is expected for April 3. Season 2 on HBO is expected for April 14 in France. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which will be Naughty Dog's next game, does not yet have a release date. Thus, The Last Of Us Part III should not arrive before 2028 or even 2029 in the best case scenario. We can therefore understand why Neil Druckmann does not want to dwell too much on this subject.
