Now that the Xbox Game Pass is more expensive, the Redmond firm will have to work twice as hard to convince its subscribers to stay. Unsurprisingly, July's new releases were already moving in this direction with the inclusion of major titles such as Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess and Dungeons of Hinterberg. But it was in August that Microsoft's subscription set the tone for its future. It is not impossible that the acquisition of Activision Blizzard has to do with the evolution of Game Pass offers. Could the increase in subscription rates reflect the added value of Activision Blizzard games that Microsoft can now use? Little by little, the newly acquired franchises are strengthening an already solid catalog. After the addition of Diablo IV, Xbox is preparing the day one launch of Call of Duty Black Ops 6, but that's not all.
Last July, sources from the specialist site Windows Central claimed that Activision productions were going to be added drop by drop, starting with the remake of Crash Bandicoot in August. It is clear that these leakers have some real information, since Microsoft has just revealed Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy as the headliner of its August schedule. In fact, Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 will be next if we believe the rest of the leak.
But the cult platformer won't be the only title to deserve the attention of subscribers this month. Here is the detailed program: surprises awaiting players:
- Creatures of Ava(Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S) – August 7
- Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (Cloud, Console, and PC) – August 8
- Mafia: Definitive Edition (Cloud, Console, and PC) – August 13
These games are leaving the catalog
In Game Pass, arrivals are always accompanied by some departures. On August 15, subscribers must cross out the following titles:
- Airborne Kingdoms(Cloud, Console, and PC)
- Offworld Trading Company(PC)
- Shadow Warrior 3(Cloud, Console, and PC)
- The Texas Chain Saw Massacre(Cloud, Console, and PC)
However, Game Pass members can take advantage of exclusive discounts to purchase these games before they are released from the catalog and add them permanently to their library.
How can you enjoy all these games?
As a reminder, Xbox Game Pass is a subscription service offered by Microsoft on Xbox and PC. Following the changes in formulas and increases announced last July, new console subscribers must now choose between Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (17.99 euros per month) or Xbox Game Pass Core (6.99 euros per month). Xbox Game Pass Ultimate gives access to the entire catalog (day-one releases and EA Play) and allows you to play on console, PC and cloud. Xbox Game Pass Core includes more than 35 games and access to online multiplayer (it is the successor to Xbox Live Gold). Finally, Game Pass PC is now billed 11.99€ and offers access to the entire catalog as well as EA Play.
