Thermomix TM7 vs TM6: which model to choose?

Thermomix TM7 vs TM6: which model to choose?

After six years of undisputed reign in the world of high-end cooking robots, Vorwerk's Thermomix TM6 is preparing to give way to the new TM7. Unveiled in February 2025 and available from April 7, 2025, this new generation promises to revolutionize the cooking experience, while relying on AI as a new software support. If you're hesitating between a brand-new TM7 and a lower-cost TM6, we'll explain the main differences between the two models, each of which benefits from valuable assets.

Design: a renewal for the better

The TM7 marks an aesthetic break with its predecessor, abandoning the brand's characteristic immaculate white for an elegant, striated black body. This new approach comes with a slimmer, more compact silhouette, with a 2.2-liter bowl with the same capacity as the TM6. A more compact design, but similar cooking volume, means those hoping for a model more suited to large families will be disappointed.

While the bowl hasn't changed, it now benefits from an insulating shell made from recycled plastic, which protects the user from the risk of burns. The latter detaches from the cooking bowl and can be put in the dishwasher for easy maintenance. This change, however, comes with a significant drawback: double-walled also means more weight. The bowl goes from 900 g to 1.7 kg, which can cause some handling problems for users, especially when it is full.

The most spectacular change concerns the screen, which goes from 6.9 inches on the TM6, to 11 inches on the TM7. The selection dial disappears to make way for fully tactile controls, and the coating now offers optimal use, even with wet fingers.

Improved technical performance, and golden silence

The new TM7 takes a leap forward in terms of technical performance. Equipped with a 500 W motor, the TM7 maintains the same maximum speed of 10,700 rpm with a maximum heating of 120°C, but stands out with a slightly increased power, and above all, a reduced noise level. Launched at full speed, the TM7 promises 30 dB (up to 50 depending on the preparation) compared to 63 dB (and up to 75 dB) for the TM6. This noise reduction is a major improvement for everyday user comfort.

The other technical innovation of the TM7 lies in the possibility of cooking with the lid open up to 100°C. A new feature that the TM6 was deprived of, and which opens up new culinary perspectives for preparations requiring evaporation or the gradual addition of ingredients.

A software revolution thanks to AI

The TM7 also stands out for a complete overhaul of its software interface, with a “digital twin” that visualizes cooking processes in real time and a redesigned Cookidoo interface for greater clarity and intuitiveness. While not surprising, the integration of AI is a first in the cooking robot sector, promising to optimize recipes based on available ingredients and the user's culinary preferences. The TM7 also introduces user profile management, absent from the TM6, as well as voice control planned for summer 2025. Note that on this point, the device will not be equipped with a microphone, since voice support will require the use of a smartphone.

No compatible accessories (yet)

There had to be some, the TM7 has some flaws compared to the TM6, even if these are apparently temporary. Thus, most of the TM6's accessories will not be compatible with those of the TM7. This is particularly the case for the replacement bowl and the Minute Cutter, which is nevertheless very practical for everyday slicing and grating. However, the situation is bound to improve with the release of compatible accessories in the coming months.

Price and availability

The TM7 is priced at €1,599, which is €100 more than the current price of the TM6. The subscription to the Cookidoo recipe platform remains at €49 per year, and the warranty remains at two years for both models. Pre-orders began on February 14, 2025, with availability effective April 7, 2025. Vorwerk is also offering a transition offer for customers who ordered a TM6 after January 27, 2025, allowing them to opt for the TM7 by simply paying the price difference.
