Adolescence, a hit for the Netflix series

On March 13, Netflix added to its catalog the British mini-series composed of 4 episodes entitled Adolescence. It features the story of Jamie, a young boy of 13 who is arrested for the murder of one of his classmates. From then on, we follow the character played by the remarkable Owen Cooper from his arrest to the interrogations with the police and the psychologist. The entire of the series is directed in single-shot, a great performance by Philip Barantini.

Very quickly, the series Adolescence, created by the duo Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham, who also plays Jamie's father, stood out on the streaming platform. The series produced by Plan B Entertainment, a company Brad Pitt's production company, ranks in the Top 10 most-watched series of all time on Netflix.

A Season 2 of Adolescence in the works for Netflix?

With only four episodes, fans of the series haven't had enough. Many are wondering if Adolescence will get a new season. It seems that this is the case according to information shared by Deadline. Indeed, given the success of the first season, Dede Gardner of Plan B Entertainment told the American site that discussions were underway with the series' director. Together, they were trying to think about how they could "expand the universe, stay true to its DNA and avoid repetition" but did not want to reveal more about their project.

Thus, a next season for Adolescence is indeed in development but we do not yet know if it will be a continuation of the events that have just taken place, which would be surprising, or if the creators of the series want to decline it into an anthology like the series Monsters but focusing on a new case concerning a teenager. What is certain is that Stephen Graham and his wife and producer Hannah Walters will not be making a prequel season. It also remains to be seen whether Netflix will give the green light for a second season. This is almost certain, and above all, if a new season does see the light of day, it will have to be of the same quality as the first.
