Avengers 5: Kevin Feige finally gives details

During the press conference for Thunderbolts*, Kevin Feige spoke about the progress of the highly anticipated Avengers 5 aka Avengers: Doomsday. A few weeks after the official launch of production, which was the subject of a six-hour live broadcast with the announcement of certain members of the cast, the head of Marvel Studios clarified the contours of this large-scale project. In addition to the promise of large-scale entertainment, Feige emphasizes the uniqueness of these feature films that bring together a quantity of actors who had not crossed paths before. He explains:

As a reminder, Jake Shreier's film is a foretaste of this reunion, since it will feature heroes from Black Widow, Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Ant-Man and the Wasp. Yelena Belova, played by Florence Pugh, and Bucky Barnes by Sebastian Stan will be the headliners of this film eagerly awaited by the public. The two actors are also promised an appearance in Doomsday and were present during the first days of filming.

Filming? Not quite, as Kevin Feige points out. Indeed, filming began this Monday, April 28th and the previous days were simply a pre-shooting phase. This new information helps explain Pedro Pascal's presence at the Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo, while the stars of Thunderbolts* have been crisscrossing the globe for the past few days promoting the film. The cameras are officially rolling, a perfect opportunity for fans eager to glean information here and there. As in As usual, Marvel will nevertheless do everything in its power to prevent leaks and stolen images near filming locations.

What we know about the project

Marvel has been promising a new superhero reunion on the scale of Infinity War and Endgame for a while now. If the project was to be dedicated to Kang until his interpreter was fired, it is now Victor Von Doom who will put the Avengers and their cronies in difficulty. The multiverse will apparently still be a topic of discussion, at least that's what the title of Avengers 6 suggests.

The release of Matt Shakman's Fantastic Four should be the moment chosen by Marvel to reveal more about the issue. Robert Downey Jr.'s antagonist is a key component of the characters' mythology. If Galactus will be the big baddie in their first adventures, there is no doubt that Doom will be at the epicenter of the post-credits scenes. We can also imagine that Thunderbolts* prepares the ground by noting the disappearance of the Avengers after the death of Tony Stark and Steve Rogers' choice to have lived happily with Peggy Carter during his time travel. The date is set for April 26, 2026 in theaters.
