Avengers Doomsday: 4 duos we can't wait to see in the film

Avengers Doomsday: 4 duos we can't wait to see in the film

Last week, Marvel Studios announced the cast of Avengers: Doomsday Taylors, a five-hour live-action epic. Some 27 actors will star in the film, including the voices of the Thunderbolts, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four. This will be the first time that so many characters from across the House of Ideas will be on screen at the same time, in what promises to be an epic adventure. Ahead of the release of the Russo brothers' feature film, scheduled for April 29, 2026, here are some duos we can't wait to see in theaters!

Thor & Loki

How can we not mention the two "brothers" of Asgard, the God of Thunder and the now God of the Multiverse, Thor and Loki? Although not strictly speaking blood related, the blond and brunette have been linked to each other since the beginning of the MCU, for better or for worse. Between backstabbing and helping each other, their relationship is one of the most enjoyable in the Marvel Universe. Their last appearance together dates back to the events of Avengers Infinity War, and the original version of Loki died at the hands of Thanos in Endgame. So it's his variant, having escaped after the attack on New York in 2012, that Thor will meet in Doomsday, which should not fail to create some sparks! Ghost

The last time the two characters crossed paths was in the second installment of the Scott Lang trilogy, and their exchanges were rather heated! Finally helped by Hank, Ava received a large amount of quantum energy from Janet to temporarily stabilize her degeneration. The former MCU antagonist will be featured in Thunderbolts*, whose plot should officially make her a "hero" (or at least, offer her and her colleagues a well-deserved redemption). Since the relationship between her and Ant-Man has likely evolved off-screen, we're curious to discover what their next exchange will be like.

Charles Xavier & Magneto

"Iconic" is the word that best describes this strange duo of mutants, former friends turned enemies for political, ethical, and moral reasons. Charles Xavier, played by Patrick Stewart, protects and defends his X-Men in the hope of a cordial understanding with humanity; Magneto, the metal manipulator played by Ian McKellen, considers their "race" to be the future, and that humans are inferior to them. Although they have diametrically opposed points of view, the two leaders respect and admire each other. Their decades-long relationship is one of the most fascinating in superhero movies and in cinema in general.

Sam Wilson & Bucky Barnes

After making a brief appearance in Brave New World, just long enough to reassure and encourage his demoralized friend, Bucky Barnes will return in Avengers: Doomsday for what we hope will be a significant role. He and his buddy Sam Wilson, whose first solo adventures as Captain America didn't win over the crowds, will finally be reunited after their joint series on Disney+. Steve Rogers' two best friends are very close themselves, and their relationship is one of the strongest and most fun in the MCU. The affection between their actors, Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, obviously has something to do with it! The actors adore each other, and their on-screen chemistry is positively reflected. Knowing that Chris Evans could also be in the cast of the film, at least if the reports from last December are true, then it's even the entire trio that will be reunited in Avengers Doomsday...

We're also very curious to discover the first confrontation between Reed Richards and his nemesis, Doom: the meeting between Pedro Pascal and Robert Downey Jr. A summit meeting between two very popular actors!
