Patch 8 is the huge swan song for Baldur's Gate 3. One of the best RPGs, and games in general, the highest-rated of all time. Larian's title immediately joined the elite circle of video game productions that leave a lasting impression. But five years after Early Access, it's time to move on for good. Baldur's Gate 3 is finished, but something big is coming for the sequel, and the studio boss is already talking about it.
The post-Baldur's Gate 3 looks bright
After the release of the latest Baldur's Gate 3 update, Larian sent a touching closing message to players. A few words to thank them for making this game a "greater success" than the studio could have ever hoped for. " It is now time for us to return to our cave, hang up our armor, and focus on our next project," the team announced in conclusion.
Swen Vincke, CEO of Larian and director of Baldur's Gate 3, also spoke on his X account, sharing an image of the game's traffic on Steam. In turn, he hinted at what's next for the studio. "I'm happy with the current state of Baldur's Gate 3. Patch 8 got a lot of people playing it again. It took a lot of effort, but I'm glad we did it. With mod support, I think the game will continue to do well for a while. This allows us to focus on delivering our next big project." And that focus is more than welcome. We have big challenges ahead.".".
Baldur's Gate 3 is finished, but Larian isn't going for Baldur's Gate 4. The studio is indeed working on two very ambitious RPGs. In December 2024, it was said that the next game would need "much more time in the oven." See you on PS6 and Xbox Series 2? It's not impossible. What do you think of the current state of Baldur's Gate 3? Have the fixes and new features made your adventure memorable? Feel free to share your thoughts on the game in the comments.
