Released in February 2025, Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 continues to be refined. Three months after its launch, the game has received a welcome patch. This update, labeled 1.2.0, does not revolutionize the gameplay, but it fixes several annoying issues. Enough to improve the player experience, especially in the late game.
Less late-game slowdown for Civilization 7
This is undoubtedly the most anticipated improvement. Many players had reported performance drops in the last turns of the game. This occurred in particular when opening or closing the production menu. With this patch, the problem is fixed. Result: long games of Civilization 7 should now run more smoothly.
Firaxis also took the opportunity to strengthen the stability Civilization 7. Several bugs have been fixed, particularly display issues. For example, some technology or doctrine icons would disappear when tutorials were activated. This has now been fixed. Another small detail has been fixed: the adjacency arrows, useful for correctly placing buildings, sometimes only appeared during the first construction. This is no longer the case.
Adjustments for more clarity
The patch also fixes misleading visual elements in Civilization 7. When a building was placed in a district, the wall icon could give the impression that a slot was still available. This was not true, and it could be confusing. This visual bug has been removed. The Alliance War interface has also been improved. Supporting an ally at war is now immediately displayed. A small change, but one that makes diplomacy more readable.
One subtle adjustment concerns the Sugar resource, which is now considered a bonus resource in the Modern era. This may have a small impact on economic strategy or trade. Good news for Mac users: 3D models now display correctly with the MetalFX graphics options. This makes the visual experience much more stable on this platform for Civilization 7.
