It's a small revolution in the world of strategy games. The famous license Sid Meier's Civilization 7 is about to take a major technological step forward with the arrival of a version entirely designed for virtual reality. Called Civilization 7- VR, the game will be released exclusively on Meta Quest 3 and 3S headsets from April 10, 2025.
A completely redesigned version of Civilization 7 for VR
While the name remains familiar, this version is more than just a port. Developed by PlaySide Studios in partnership with Firaxis Games, Civilization 7 - VR was designed from the ground up to take advantage of the benefits of virtual and mixed reality. The goal: to immerse players in the Civilization universe like never before.
The game features a revamped interface, designed to adapt to VR interactions. You can zoom into the heart of cities, manipulate the map at will, or even make the famous War Table appear right in the middle of your living room thanks to mixed reality. A completely new way to experience the cult strategic experience of the series.
Immersive diplomacy and multiplayer games
One of the most striking elements of this version of Civilization 7 is undoubtedly the Room of diplomacy, where heads of state appear in real size in front of the player. Alliances, threats, declarations of war: everything now happens face-to-face, making each interaction more lively and personal.
The game is not limited to single-player. It will be possible to launch multiplayer games with up to four participants, all on Quest 3 or 3S. A good way to have empires compete or cooperate in a totally immersive environment.
Available for pre-order now, Civilization 7 will be offered at €59.99 on the Meta Horizon Store. It will be playable only on Quest 3 and Quest 3S headsets, and will offer several languages as well as interactive archives to relive the highlights of your game in virtual dioramas.
