The announcement of this Remastered wasn't really a big surprise. However, it has something to delight fans and the curious: Days Gone will return on April 25, 2025 on PS5 in an enhanced version. For the occasion, Bend Studio has redesigned its copy to offer even more content. New modes will be available, we already have the details!
A challenge never before seen with Days Gone Remastered
Some call the PS5 generation the “generation of remakes and remasters”. The number of original new releases since 2020 would tend to prove them wrong. Nevertheless, it must be recognized that Sony is committed to providing its latest console with reissues of titles that have marked the catalogs of the PS4 and its big sisters. Among them, we can mention Days Gone, the zombie adventure game from Bend Studio. This one is about to be released in a version with improved graphics, more fluid, and enriched with modes that will refresh the experience.
The Horde Assault mode is already shaping up to be the most iconic addition of Days Gone Remastered. On the PlayStation Blog, Kevin MacAllister (Bend Studio) details this exhilarating new feature. It will involve surviving against an "endless horde." You'll start with a simple pistol and should upgrade your gear to hopefully last as long as possible. According to the creative and product manager, 10 additional hours of gameplay await you here.
The studio has designed Horde Assaults as an "arcade survival mode." The idea is to offer a challenge, which is reminiscent of the No Return mode in the remaster of The Last of Us 2. Here, there are no roguelike mechanics, but the same structure in the form of a "reward path" divided into 35 levels. Finally, in addition to the variety of enemies that will hunt you down, the mode is enriched, just like in the Naughty Dog title, with game modifiers ("injectors") that will alter your game with surprising bonuses or penalties.
The Horde Assault mode will thus be integrated into the PS5 version of Days Gone. But PC players haven't been forgotten. They'll also be able to enjoy it thanks to the Broken Road DLC, which complements the original version of the title. It will also be released on April 25, 2025.
