On April 2, Elden Ring announced that it would arrive sometime in 2025 on Nintendo Switch 2 in the form of a Tarnished Edition. To accompany this, all other platforms will benefit from a major free update that will add the elements introduced in the Switch 2 port of the game, including new armor, new weapons, and customization options for Torrent. Here's what to expect in the more or less near future.
Free new features coming for all the Shardless of Elden Ring
At the occasion of the giant Nintendo Direct dedicated to Nintendo Switch 2, FromSoftware has distinguished itself twice. First with the announcement of The Duskbloods, a brand new license exclusive to the future console of Big N, in a format with a certain emphasis on multiplayer, coming sometime in 2026. The Japanese studio also announced the arrival of Elden Ring Tarnished Edition on the same machine, this time sometime in 2025.
This port of Elden Ring on Switch 2 will include the base game, the absolute GOTY 2022, its masterful expansion The Shadow of the World Tree, as well as new content in the form of weapons, armor or alternative appearances for our faithful Torrent steed, as we can see in the trailer below. On the page dedicated to this Switch 2 version of the official Elden Ring website, we learn that “ the additional content of this game will also be available on other platforms ” which are PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series.
It now remains to be seen when exactly Elden Ring will be released on Nintendo Switch 2, and therefore when these new elements will join the other versions of the title. For now, we have to settle for a vague 2025. However, we should learn more about its precise release date very soon. We can particularly expect an announcement to this effect during Summer Game Fest 2025, given the close ties that its organizer, Geoff Keighley, maintains with FromSoftware. Patience is a virtue in any case, when you want to compete for the throne of Elden Ring.
