It's a cold shower for former Free subscribers who would like to migrate to the Freebox Pop S. Free's new "cheap" offer, unveiled a few days ago and whose promise is to provide fiber access alone (no TV and no calls), is, in principle, offered at a price of 24.99 euros per month. A price that seems attractive at first glance, however, conceals a negative point: Free does not reimburse termination fees if you come from another operator.
But this is not the only negative point of this new offer. Because what Free didn't specify is that this offer at 24.99 euros per month is not available to everyone.
The Freebox Pop S more expensive for current customers
While Free has promised that it would be possible for current subscribers to migrate to its new Freebox Pop S offer, the "troublemaker" of Telecoms risks alienating its long-time customers this time. The ISP has in fact deliberately omitted to specify that this price of 24.99 euros per month for the Freebox Pop S is not available to everyone. than to new subscribers. This is the unpleasant surprise that several Free subscribers have shared, screenshot at support, on Twitter / X.
For current Free customers, who are starting to be offered the migration from their customer area, the price is not the same. To dare to hope to migrate to the Freebox Pop S, current subscribers will have to pay five euros more than new customers, with a rate of 29.99 euros per month. And to finish off the "turkeys of the farce", Free will charge 49 euros of "migration fees".
Clearly, there is no difference to justify this price gap between existing and new subscribers. But one thing is certain: loyal Free customers are likely to jump ship fairly quickly to look for the competition. For now, only Freebox Revolution Light, Freebox Mini 4K, and Freebox Delta S subscribers can opt out. Migration to the Freebox Pop S is, at least for now, not available to Freebox Pop subscribers.
