It was disappointing... I've been a fan of A Song of Ice and Fire for almost 25 years, and working on the series has been one of the greatest privileges, not only of my writing career, but of my life as a fan of science fiction and fantasy. George is a monument, a literary icon, and a personal hero who has had a huge influence on my career.Fire & Blood is an incomplete story, and that requires connecting many dots and inventing elements along the way. I made every effort to include George in the adaptation process. For years, we had a mutually rewarding collaboration, but at a certain point, he refused to acknowledge the practical constraints in a reasonable way. As showrunner, I have to keep in mind both both the creative vision and the production requirements.
