The Nintendo Switch 2 is almost out. The console will mark a turning point in Nintendo's history by taking the leap into the next generation. If this is your very first Switch, it's easy to get lost when it comes to game purchasing priorities. Even if you're a regular, you're probably wondering which games you absolutely need as soon as the console launches, in order to have enough quality content to wait for the release of Donkey Kong Bananza or even Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Here are the 4 that we strongly recommend you buy.
1. Mario Kart World
If you haven't already, we strongly recommend you buy the Nintendo Switch 2 in a bundle with Mario Kart World. Indeed, it's the most economical offer you'll find on the market, since the game sold alone is priced at €90, while it costs €40 in a bundle with the machine. Mario Kart World is obviously a must-have, because it's the first new game in the license that we've had since 2014 (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch was a reissue of the Wii U game).
It brings a lot of changes, starting with an open world. Gone is the menu where you just have to choose between the different cups, here you can wander around the game's circuits and start games from this interactive hub. The title also brings races with 24 participants, a ton of new characters, and even a customization system with skins to unlock.
2. Zelda Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
What better time to jump into Zelda than with the Nintendo Switch 2? The games Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, already acclaimed by critics and players on the original Switch console, are getting upgrades to take full advantage of the Switch 2's performance. We're talking improved graphics, faster loading times, and compatibility with a new service.
Zelda Notes, available via the Nintendo mobile app, lets you take your gaming experience to a whole new level. The service serves as a navigation assistant, guiding you through the world to find shrines and Korogus. It also lets you save your creations, duplicate them, listen to characters' memories, and access a photo studio. What more could you ask for?
3. Split Fiction
The successor to It Takes Two, Josef Fares' new game is one of this year's most popular. Split Fiction is a great title if you plan to use your Nintendo Switch with a second gaming partner. Available in local co-op, you can each play a character thanks to the split-screen feature.
In this game, you play as two aspiring writers who want to be published. One loves science fiction, the other fantasy, and they have radically different lives. They will both find themselves trapped in a simulation of their respective universes, get to know each other to get out and forge a friendship stronger than blood ties. It's a fabulous adventure to discover without delay on Switch 2.
4. Super Mario Party Jamboree
Mario Party is the ultimate family and party game. The latest entry in the franchise, Super Mario Party Jamboree, packs everything you'd expect into a truly compelling game. The good news is that it's getting an upgrade (just like the Zelda games) at the launch of the Switch 2. The game will therefore be getting some new additions to help you enjoy it even more.
This includes mouse mode, which will be fully exploited by a series of new mini-games. In addition to improved graphics and frame rates, Super Mario Party Jamboree introduces Jamboree TV mode, a mode where players play as if they were on a TV set using the camera designed for this purpose. Even if you don't want to pay for this accessory, the rest of the game was definitely worth getting on Switch 1, and it's even more so on Switch 2.
