Opera has so many different versions of its browser that it's almost overwhelming. After being integrated into the classic mobile version of Opera on Android and iOS, Aria AI, Opera's artificial intelligence, is coming to Opera Mini, the lightweight version of the mobile web browser.
Available only on Android, Opera Mini differentiates itself from other versions of Opera by its ability to compress web pages to save mobile data on the phone. A feature that makes it a browser of choice for those with limited mobile data allowances or who live in countries with high mobile internet rates.
Opera Mini users also have access to AI
This is probably to show that Opera Mini, although slimmed down compared to the classic version of Opera, is not a "cheap" web browser. that Opera Software has chosen to integrate its artificial intelligence Aria AI.
And the good news for Opera Mini users is that this integration of Aria AI does not seem to be deprived of any functionality. You will be able to use it to get answers to your questions, generate text or images, or even generate the summary of a long web page, without having to exit the browser.
As a reminder, Aria AI relies on several language models to function. While Opera doesn't list all of them, the company does admit to relying on language models from OpenAI (ChatGPT) and Google (Gemini). As for image generation capabilities, Aria AI uses Google's Imagen3 Fast model.
The decision to integrate Aria AI into Opera Mini is motivated by providing access to AI tools to as many people as possible without generating mobile data consumption for the user.
