We imagine that this news will certainly not please Apple, as it is Microsoft's historic competitor. While the company has not yet recovered from its Apple Intelligence delays in Europe, where very negative feedback from its users has accumulated, Microsoft seems to have been getting ahead for several months now...
Indeed, if Microsoft had taken everyone by surprise with the arrival of Copilot+ PCs in November 2024, computers that directly integrate Microsoft's AI, the announcements continue to intensify for the company.
A major update for Copilot+ and Windows 11!
In a press release published this Tuesday, May 6 by Navjot Virk, Vice President of Windows Experiences, Microsoft announced one of the most significant updates to Copilot+.
While these updates are expected to first affect Windows Insider beta users on Copilot+ PCs, some of these new features are expected to later integrate into Windows 11.
Updates for Copilot+ PCs
If Windows settings are known for being complicated, that's now a thing of the past! Indeed, Copilot+ PC users will be able to use AI to change Windows settings with a simple request.
Microsoft is also expected to add right-click features to save data, share it, or search for information from what is displayed on the screen. The company has announced future additions, such as converting an Excel table into Word content, or scheduling Teams meetings aloud.
Among other updates, while it has long been mocked, the Paint application is also expected to be boosted with AI. In this new update, users will be able to generate and edit images more easily, or even create stickers.
Updates for Windows 11
On the Windows 11 side, Microsoft has communicated on other features adapted to its operating system. While the "Start" menu has been completely redesigned with automatic sorting of applications, this update first appears in File Explorer.
With a simple right-click, users will be able to perform new actions directly on the file, depending on its nature.
The Windows Notepad application is also getting a major update, as it will now be possible to create content from a simple description, like a prompt.
Microsoft is also planning an update to the Copilot application, including features to interact directly with web pages without changing the interface.
