PlayStation Portal: A long-awaited update is coming, what's new?

PlayStation Portal: A long-awaited update is coming, what's new?

Sony's various consoles have each received an update in recent weeks. This was the case for the PS5, the PS4, and even the PS3. This time, it's the turn of another gaming platform to receive a big patch. The PlayStation Portal has indeed been in the garage to review its features and offer better gaming comfort to its users.

Welcome features on the PlayStation Portal

Although it's not a portable console per se, the PlayStation Portal is making gaming increasingly easier as a remote play platform. The big step forward, above all, was making games accessible, and a good number of them, without having to stay connected to your PS5. This is a first step towards cloud gaming and therefore greater mobility and freedom of play.

After a minor update last March, the PlayStation Portal continues its momentum with a more significant one. This time, the accessory is revising its interface for even greater comfort. If you try cloud gaming in beta, then you will see that you can now sort your games. Also, to simplify navigation on the device, your games will pause if you open the quick menu, put it on standby, or an error message appears.

Also, the beta now allows you to take screenshots, photos, or videos in-game. They will not be saved directly on the PlayStation Portal, but in the cloud of your PS Plus subscription. To retrieve them, simply go through the PS app. Don't delay, however, as they are only available for 14 days.

Finally, a waiting screen will now appear on the PlayStation Portal if the streaming servers are overloaded. This will let you know how much time you have left before accessing your game. This isn't the only new screen that appears with the update. You will have the option to rate your streaming experience via a pictogram. Add to that one last detail: the sending of notifications in case of inactivity. All of this should make your experience more enjoyable and help keep it that way.
