Samsung transforms the Weather app in One UI with spectacular animations

Samsung continues to prepare for the launch of One UI 8, its future update based on Android 16. After a One UI 7.0 version marked by significant changes but also technical issues on some models, it seems to want to focus on stability. The first test versions show an interface very close to the seventh iteration, with few visible new features. However, some adjustments and optimizations, as well as some features reserved for the Galaxy S25, should be gradually rolled out to other devices. Among the upcoming changes, Samsung has decided to make a significant update to its Weather app. Instead of simple static icons, the new design relies on full-screen animations to represent the current weather conditions. This change marks a break from the old presentation, which was often considered too basic. According to initial reports, the app leaked even before the official launch of One UI 8.

Samsung adds dynamic animations to One UI 8's Weather app for a more realistic representation of the weather

The redesigned Weather app introduces animated scenes that take up the entire screen, making the display more vibrant and interactive. These animations are not limited to graphic effects; they feature characters and objects that react to weather conditions. For example, when it rains, figures appear walking under umbrellas. Under clear skies, rays of sunlight pierce through moving clouds. The effects should also adapt to other conditions such as snow or gusts of wind, creating a more realistic atmosphere.

Samsung has also worked on the fluidity of the animations, which adapt in real time to changes in the weather. This immersive approach contrasts sharply with previous versions, where the weather was limited to a few fixed icons. Now, the user is immersed in a true living scene, which reflects the evolution of the weather throughout the day. It is already possible to download the new application as an APK file, without waiting for the official arrival of One UI 8. This file can be installed manually on a compatible smartphone. However, this method carries some risks. Installing it may cause security issues or malfunctions if the file is not retrieved from a reliable source.
