No, this isn't a bad joke on our part, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has indeed given us some news. Concerns were growing around the animated film, as we had nothing to hang on to, but Sony has finally given us some hope by revealing the release date, the first images, and the first plot elements of the feature film.
Spider-Man: the star of CinemaCon 2025
CinemaCon is currently taking place at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, an event where all the major players in the global film industry gather. This huge trade show aims to showcase new technologies and the films of tomorrow. This is an opportunity for producers to reassure investors, but also and especially fans. This start to the year has been particularly difficult for American cinema, as evidenced by the flop of Snow White, a feature film that even became the worst live-action adaptation in history on IMDB. However, there is no doubt that the industry will right the ship, thanks in particular to Spider-Man.
Spider-Man became the star of the show last night. This is due to the Sony panel, which provided very important information on future productions featuring the superhero. We learned from Tom Holland himself that Spider-Man 4 will be called "Spider-Man: Brand New Day". The actor's absence from the cast of Avengers: Doomsday had worried fans, but since then there has been only reassuring news, such as the one surrounding the film's timeline, which justifies his absence. However, Peter Parker wasn't the only one to have his moment of glory. This is also the case for Miles Morales with Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is finally revealed
Until recently, everything surrounding the third installment of the Sony saga was quite alarming. Although it was supposed to be released in 2024, it was removed from the release schedule without further details. 2024 was actually a utopian date, because between the titanic work of the animators and the SAG-AFTRA strike of 2023, it was impossible for the film to be released that early. So we were in the dark, at least until today. During Sony's CinemaCon panel, the studio revealed that the film will be released on June 4, 2027. That's not all, because the announcement was accompanied by a teaser, from which we got some images. Spider-Man: Beyond the #SpiderVerse comes exclusively to theaters June 4, 2027. While we wait for the teaser to be available everywhere, we can already tell you that it shows the Prowler chasing Spider-Man and that his friends like Gwen Stacy appear. Phil Lord, co-writer and co-producer of the films, indicated that this third installment will pick up where the second one left off with Miles Morales once again being hunted by the other Spider-Men. The other plot element that Lord revealed concerns Miles' objective. "Gwen and her friends may not be enough to help her save the family that has always been at the center of everything," the producer said, promising that it will be an "explosive finale to the trilogy." This announcement and these words sell a dream, but also a conclusion that is likely to be very emotional. We can't wait for the film to come out, even if we have to be patient.
