What if the Switch 2 finally did Night City justice? While Nintendo is keeping its detailed specifications under wraps, Cyberpunk 2077 becomes the first game to confirm the use of DLSS on the console. Enough to boost the performance of CD Projekt Red's title.
The Nintendo Switch 2 isn't in stores yet, but it's starting to reveal its strengths. Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition will be the first title to exploit Nvidia's DLSS on the console, as confirmed by CD Projekt Red to Digital Foundry. An announcement that lifts a corner of the veil on the technical capabilities of the machine, while fueling speculation.
While Nintendo remains tight-lipped on details, the Polish studio has specified that AI upscaling will be enabled in all modes (quality and performance, docked or portable). The objective: to maintain stable definitions and fps, despite the limited hardware of the Switch 2. An ambitious bet, while the previews show a fluid Cyberpunk... but without obvious traces of DLSS.

How will the Switch 2's DLSS work?
On paper, DLSS should allow the Switch 2 to display 1080p in docked mode (30 fps in quality, 40 fps in performance) and 720p in portable mode. But Digital Foundry's analyses struggle to identify typical upscaling artifacts. "Low-definition post-processing effects blur the lines," explains John Linneman, an expert at DF. Only a few scenes show distorted edges, discreet clues of the AI at the work.
CD Projekt Red specifies that the definition is dynamic: from 540p to 1080p in docked mode, and from 360p to 720p in portable mode. DLSS therefore upscales an image that is sometimes very low, explaining the difficulty in detecting it. "It's an essential boost to keep the promises of fluidity," underlines an anonymous developer.
If Cyberpunk 2077 relies on DLSS, it's also a test for the Switch 2. The console, equipped with a Tegra T239 processor, could thus rival the Steam Deck on demanding games. The targeted performance (40 fps docked) leaves us dreaming, but everything will depend on optimization.
Nintendo, for its part, is playing the mystery card. No official specs have leaked, leaving players in suspense. Preview tests remain limited, but each demo fuels the theories. Will Cyberpunk serve as a showcase for DLSS, like The Matrix Awakens on PS5? The answer will be June 5, the console's release date... and game.
