The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion remake could be released the week of April 21

A few weeks ago, at the beginning of January, a first rumor suggested that a remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (released in 2006 on PS3 and Xbox 360) could see the light of day this year. Subsequently, insider NateTheHate confirmed the information, specifying at the same time that an announcement would be close and expected before mid-April, for a release before June.

All this seems to be confirmed since the remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion could be revealed as early as tomorrow, April 3, 2025.

UPDATE – APRIL 18, 2025

While we're still waiting for Bethesda to officially announce its plans, information continues to pour in about the remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. We now learn that the title will be available upon release on Xbox Game Pass. In addition, all DLC should be included. This is what Lord Cognito stated during the latest Defining Duke podcast. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered should therefore offer the original game as well as the "Knight of the Nine" and "Shivering Isles" expansions, as well as the "Horse Armor Pack" downloadable content.

While we are still waiting for the official announcement from Bethesda, which should take place next week, traces of the game have just been found on the publisher's official website. According to several Internet users on Reddit, who notably used the Way Back Machine, these new mentions were only very recently added to the official Bethesda website.

UPDATE – APRIL 15, 2025

No more doubts surrounding the remaster/remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The first visuals and the official title were found on the website of Virtuos, the developers of this reissue. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is expected to arrive next week and will offer a beautiful graphical update of the game.

This remaster will be developed by Virtuos and should arrive on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5. A deluxe edition should also be offered, although for the moment, we have no information on the price of the latter. However, this special edition will offer players access to additional items, such as horse armor and exclusive weapons.

UPDATE – APRIL 15, 2025

As the week of April 21st quickly approaches, things are seriously starting to confirm for the remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It was once again journalist and insider Jeff Grubb who confirmed his comments from last week a few hours ago, once again during Giant Bomb's latest podcast. He reaffirmed that the shadowdrop is still relevant and that the remake should be announced and released shortly after next week.

UPDATE – APRIL 8, 2025

Things are starting to look really good for the remake of The Elder Scrolls IV. Despite confirmation from NateTheHate, a confirmed industry insider, we still had reason to be skeptical following the rather vague information from Detective Seeds. But today, there is no longer any doubt, as journalist and insider Jeff Grubb has confirmed the news, announcing that the Oblivion remake will be released "soon."

In the latest Giant Bomb podcast, the journalist and insider stated that the Elder Scrolls IV remake is indeed scheduled for April and that it could now "come out at any time."

UPDATE – APRIL 7, 2025

A few days after making a mistake and a few hours after NateTheHate confirmed that the remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will indeed arrive in April, Detective Seeds has spoken out once again on the subject. He now gives us a date "the week of April 21st". According to him, the remake of The Elder Scrolls IV will be presented sometime after the 11th anniversary event of The Elder Scrolls Online. The insider states that reliable sources have confirmed that the project exists 100% and that there is no doubt about it.

Of course, even if this rumor surrounding the remake of Oblivion seems more and more credible, it is advisable to take all this with a grain of salt for the moment given that the insider has already been wrong once.

UPDATE – APRIL 5, 2025

While Detective Seeds announced a few days ago that the remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was potentially due for release last Thursday, April 3, we realize that the title is indeed still not available.

But, it would be a matter of time. Indeed, insider NateTheHate, who was the first to mention the release of this Remake at the beginning of the year, has just confirmed that the information from Detective Seeds was not complete. The remake of The Elder Scrolls IV was not planned for "April 3rd" but "from April 3rd." The Remake could therefore be released in the coming days. The insider specifies that he does not know the exact date or Bethesda's planned plans. However, he confirms that the Remake is indeed expected for April 2025. According to rumors, it would be for next week.

This time, it's the insider Detective Seeds who stands out and confirms that the game will be unveiled in the next few hours, as early as Thursday, April 3, 2025. Better yet? According to the insider, the game could be released immediately, on the day of its announcement. A theory that was also mentioned by NateTheHate a few days ago.

So, of course, the insider specifies that he is not yet certain of his information. This should therefore be taken with a grain of salt. On the other hand, more and more elements seem to suggest that the announcement and release of the project are imminent.

As a reminder, Bethesda is currently in full development of The Elder Scrolls VI, the next installment in the saga. Announced in June 2018, the game has been awaited for many years. The latest rumors suggested that the start of communication could be launched as early as this summer. The release of the Oblivion remake, in the spring, would then make perfect sense to revive the hype around the license.
