Google is adding a new option to Gmail for Android that makes life easier for users. All email subscriptions are now grouped in a single menu. It only takes one click to unsubscribe, without searching through each message.
Inboxes often fill up with newsletters, advertisements or promotional messages. For most users, these subscriptions end up drowning out important emails. Until now, managing them was complicated. Unsubscribing was done message by message, with links that were sometimes hidden or redirected to unclear external sites. This step was all the more daunting because it required repeating the operation for each sender, sometimes with multiple clicks.
Gmail did offer an "Unsubscribe" button at the top of some emails, but it wasn't always present. This function depended on the format of the message and the goodwill of the senders. In other cases, it was necessary to scroll through the entire message to find a link, which was often tiny and barely visible. This manual and tedious method prevented many users from sorting through them. It also contributed to the email overload that many struggle to manage. manage on a daily basis.
Gmail now displays all your subscriptions and allows you to unsubscribe from them with a single click
To remedy To address this complicated management, Google is introducing a whole new section in Gmail on Android: the "Manage Subscriptions" page. This interface, spotted by our colleagues at 9to5Google, is accessible from the main menu of the application. It groups together all active subscriptions detected in the inbox, allowing you to view everything in one place. Each entry displays the sender's name, email address, and the number of messages recently received. An unsubscribe button allows you to unsubscribe instantly, without opening each message one by one.
In most cases, unsubscribing is immediate. If you have to go through an external page, Gmail takes care of it automatically. A message indicates that the complete shutdown may take a few days. This new interface represents a real time saver for those who receive dozens of advertising emails. The deployment is being done gradually through a server-side update, with no action required. It should soon also arrive on Gmail Web and iOS.
