If you see an invitation to sign up for The Witcher 4 beta on social media, CD Projekt Red explains how to react.
You saw a message inviting you to sign up for The Witcher 4 closed beta? Bad news, it's a scam. “Recently, we received reports from some community members that they were invited to a beta test of The Witcher 4 — it's a scam!”, CD Projekt Red confirmed on social media.
On Reddit, many users reported seeing this invitation on their news feed. Within the Phonandroid editorial team, one of our journalists also spotted it while browsing Facebook and Instagram. From a distance, the visual may seem legitimate. But upon closer inspection, it appears to contain a number of English errors.
No Beta (yet) for The Witcher 4
“We have taken the necessary steps to have this fraudulent message removed. That said, if you receive invitations or encounter new scam attempts, we ask that you report them using the tools at available to you in your email client or on your social media platform,” adds the developer.
“Remember: professional monster slayers don’t fall for scams; they see them clearly and kill them!”, the studio continues with a note of humor. “If we ever organize beta tests in the future, you will be informed first, as always, via our social networks and official websites,” concluded CD Projekt Red.
The Polish company does not usually launch betas (open or closed) to players before the launch of their games and there is no indication at the moment that it will change tack for The Witcher 4. Perhaps this would be useful to better optimize the games before their official release: we remember the first versions of The Witcher 1 and Cyberpunk 2077, which were complicated from a technical point of view.
