Apple is preparing a shock in its iPhone range with six new models per year, this calendar will shake up your habits

For several years, the release of new smartphones has followed a well-established rhythm, concentrated at the end of the year. This regularity has allowed major brands to create anticipated annual events, but it also limits the impact of each launch. To revive interest, some companies are looking to break this cycle. Diversifying release periods helps maintain public attention and spread commercial pressure.

According to two reputable sources relayed by our colleagues at 9to5Mac, Apple is preparing to profoundly change its launch strategy for the iPhone. The schedule for the coming years includes more models, spread across two distinct periods. The goal is clear: to expand the offering while maintaining public attention throughout the year. This approach also aims to reinvigorate sales, which have remained high but stagnant for some time.

Apple will unveil an iPhone 18 Fold in 2026 and is preparing six models for 2027

The year 2026 will mark a turning point with the arrival of the iPhone 17th in the spring, followed by four models in the fall: the iPhone 18 Air, the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max and, most importantly, the iPhone 18 Fold. The latter will be Apple's very first foldable iPhone. The 18 Pro and Pro Max will adopt an even more refined design, with a front camera integrated directly into the screen. The 18 Air, meanwhile, will retain its compact dimensions, while being thinner than current models.

In 2027, Apple will accelerate the pace even further with six new iPhones. Two entry-level models—iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e—will launch in the spring. Then, in the fall, the high-end successors will take over: iPhone 19 Air, iPhone 19 Pro, iPhone 19 Pro Max, and the second-generation iPhone Fold. This split into two waves aims to spread out announcements and boost sales throughout the year. The 19 Air will have a larger screen, while the Pro versions could do without a visible camera cutout altogether. The Apple brand is thus beginning a new era with more varied designs, new formats and a wider range than ever before.
