The developers of Assassin's Creed Shadows recently met with players to present the post-launch roadmap for Year 1 of the game. During this presentation, the team promised new story segments, updates to the Photo mode and the Codex, additional difficulty settings, a New Game+, and much more. And the publisher has no time to mess around, as the first update with major new features and free content is available today on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC at 4:00 PM. Here's what's changing.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is really starting its Year 1
Big updates have been promised for Assassin's Creed Shadows. And they'll be arriving throughout the year, knowing that Ubisoft has only communicated so far on the new features planned until June 2025. At the end of May, for example, there will be the first special collaboration with an update for free running. The objective will be to expand the range of parkour movements, but also to offer more options in Photo mode. But for now, make way for Title Update 1.0.4 of Assassin's Creed Shadows with free content.
What's new? If you want more narrative content, you've come to the right place! A new free quest "The Works of Luis Frois" is added with this patch 1.0.4. "Recover the lost notes, protect Lady Satoko, and learn more about the Jesuits in this new free story pack playable with Naoe or Yasuke". Additionally, the developers have responded to an initial request from Assassin's Creed Shadows players, which was for more character background. To achieve this, the Codex has been updated with biographies on the allies and enemies you encounter throughout your adventure.

How to access the free quest for update 1.0.4?
The big 1.0.4 update also brings a long list of fixes with general changes such as:
- Fixed an issue where pressing "Go to Board" to "Complete Yasuke's Personal Journey" would not redirect the player to the quest board
- Fixed an issue where some trinkets were not accessible in the Forge
- Fixed an issue where visual customization could not be applied to some weapons
- Fixed a visual issue related to trading the Red Bull trinket between Yasuke and Naoe
- Fixed several AI issues
- Fixed several audio issues
