Led by Alain Chabat, the return of Asterix and Obelix to Armorica in The Battle of the Chiefs was eagerly awaited, and it's clear that the result lives up to our expectations. On Netflix, the five episodes, full of humor, winks, and emotion, strictly adhere to the spirit of the comic strip, while modernizing the universe of the indomitable Gauls. Once this new adventure is over, we'll be asking for a little more. And that's good, because Alain Chabat has planned a very beautiful post-credits scene for the last episode. You still need to know that it exists.
Stay until the end
After following Asterix, Obelix and their companions in a new incredible adventure against Caesar and his Romans, the series ends, as usual, with a banquet. But this is where Alain Chabat and his team have a little surprise in store for the most attentive viewers: a post-credits scene, or rather a new mini-episode in 2D animation of about three minutes, which brilliantly concludes the series.
The sequence, accessible after the credits of the last episode, features two hungry wild boars, in a cartoon sequence à la Beep Beep and Coyote. “There were supposed to be wild boars at the beginning of the series, there was a whole story with them. But we abandoned it, because it was too long or too complicated,” explains screenwriter Pierre-Alain Bloch to our colleagues at AlloCiné. This “little extra cookie” for those who will stay until the end, allows us to pay tribute to the silent victims of the franchise, while fitting into the temporality of the series. We can also see in the background key moments of the story, like nods to the new Netflix adaptation.
This bonus mini-episode fits perfectly into Alain Chabat’s approach to modernizing the franchise. The series is full of pop culture references, absurd humor, and wordplay. It is therefore logical that this mini-episode, which brings back fond memories of the Have you ever seen? shows of our childhood, concludes this lovely television experience, like the cherry on the cake of an already particularly successful series.
