In an ideal world, 2025 should have normally marked the big return of the license with GTA 6. Unfortunately, as we learned a few days ago, the Rockstar Games title will ultimately not arrive before May 26, 2026. As compensation, the studio then not only offered us an incredible trailer 2 for the occasion, but also a slew of images and information on the game's universe. And against all expectations, it could be that another big surprise is on the way by the end of the year.
Before GTA 6, a strong comeback for GTA 4?
Indeed, if we are to believe recent statements from insider Tez2, well known for his information and discoveries about the studio, a port of GTA 4 is currently in preparation. "Someone at Rockstar teased a port of [GTA] 4, and it's been in development for a year. It might come out later this year," he said. According to him, this would also explain why the studio recently requested the removal of the LLCP mod from GTA 5, with which fans were trying to recreate Liberty City in the latest game.
Of course, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt for now, even if this insider's reputation is well established. If the information is proven, we would then probably be dealing with a port similar to that of Red Dead Redemption, which arrived on PS4 and Nintendo Switch in August 2023, then on PC in October 2024. In other words, there would be no revolution on the horizon, just a small graphical and technical facelift and all the DLC released. And when we know how much GTA 4 is an episode appreciated by fans, there is no doubt that such news would make people happy. Especially since, in the absence of GTA 6, this would certainly give us something to tide us over before heading off to the lazy sun of Vice City.
