Bowers & Wilkins' Px7 S3 aims to outdo Sony and Bose

Bowers & Wilkins' Px7 S3 aims to outdo Sony and Bose

The first visible change: the design. Lighter, thinner, with a redesigned headband and memory foam ear cushions, the Px7 S3 is clearly aimed at long-term listening without discomfort. The carrying case has also been optimized to be more compact and easy to slip into a bag.

B&W is moving to the higher (sound) speed

Under the hood, it's also serious. Bowers & Wilkins has kept the cones of its 40 mm biocellulose transducers, but everything else has been redesigned: chassis, voice coil, magnet, suspension. The result: cleaner, more dynamic sound, and even lower distortion. To take full advantage of your favorite streaming services, the headphones handle high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/96 kHz thanks to the aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless codecs.

Active noise reduction has also received a makeover. The Px7 S3 has eight microphones, including two dedicated to voice calls. Enough to isolate the listener from the outside world while ensuring the best possible communication clarity thanks to the in-house ADI Pure Voice technology.

And if you feel like plugging in a cable, no problem: the Px7 S3 accepts both 3.5 mm analog and USB-C digital connections.

Battery life remains solid with up to 30 hours of listening time on a single charge. And if the battery ever runs low, a quarter of an hour plugged in is enough to recover seven additional hours of listening time. Practical when you're in a hurry.

No touch controls here: Bowers & Wilkins remains faithful to the good old physical buttons, redesigned to be more ergonomic. In addition, the Bowers & Wilkins Music app allows you to fine-tune the settings thanks to a 5-band equalizer and manage the different ANC modes according to your needs.

More good news: an update planned for the end of the year will add support for spatial audio, for even more immersion. The Px7 S3 is also Auracast-ready, a Bluetooth technology that allows you to share audio with multiple compatible headphones at the same time.

Available in three colors – charcoal black, indigo blue, and ivory white – the Px7 S3 retails for €429 in Europe. It is available on the official Bowers & Wilkins website and at partner retailers.
