Call of Duty Warzone on mobile is almost over

It's not a goodbye, but rather a farewell that players of Call of Duty: Warzone on mobile will have to say. Activision has just announced the news: the game will soon be delisted from stores on Android and iOS, and the game will no longer be updated. The studio shared this sad news in a post on X. In its message, it states:

Fewer players on smartphones?

The reason given by the studio seems to be the lower popularity of Warzone on mobile than on consoles and PC. The title hasn't generated enough revenue, which means that there are either far fewer players, or they have left the platform one after the other after the launch period, or they are spending less than players on other platforms. Regardless, Activision explains:

Operational difficulties blamed

Despite its ambition, the game failed to reach players in the same way as the original title. From its launch, Warzone Mobile was criticized for its average performance. Between overheating, excessive battery consumption, and random fluidity even on high-end phones, the experience was far from optimal. Add to that a sometimes confusing interface and frustrating matchmaking that finished off players.

Now, players are wondering what will happen to all the content purchased or earned in the game. Indeed, Warzone Mobile is a derivative and not a port of the official Warzone that everyone knows. This means there's no cross-progression or even crossplay, and all content will disappear along with the game once it's no longer supported by the development teams. For now, the game's currency can still be used in-game, but Activision doesn't mention any refund options.
