Indeed, we learned several weeks ago that the Japanese creator's new game will be released on PS5 on June 26. However, it turns out that this wasn't the release window the studio had in mind. As Kojima explained in response to a question on his show A Hideo Kojima Radio, he and his team were aiming for a fall release, specifically around September. But the uncertainty surrounding the release of GTA 6, originally scheduled for this fall, led to major schedule changes. And the reason for this is simple: no one wants to be faced with such a monster. "For example, some people were saying that GTA might or might not come out in November. The moment it was announced for November, everyone would have gotten out of the way," he said, before continuing his analogy by referring to the movie industry: "If a new Mission: Impossible movie were to come out in May, others wouldn't be able to compete and would then change their slots." It's the same for video games, nothing very surprising there.
The game soon in our hands
Of course, all this was before Rockstar Games announced the delay of GTA 6 to next year, thus freeing up space for fall 2025. But given that a schedule can't be made at the last minute, it was already too late for Death Stranding 2, whose release date was set a long time ago now.
