Spending a family trip to Disneyland should be magical and unforgettable for both children and parents. But sometimes it doesn't go as planned. This is the case of this mother who has just sued the American company after being the victim of a mishap in one of its parks.
When a trip to Disneyland doesn't go as planned
Disneyland, the kingdom of magic! The amusement parks around the world belonging to the American company do everything to ensure that your visit to their parks goes smoothly and, above all, that you leave home with stars in your eyes and wonderful memories. But sometimes, some customers don't get the promised experience. This is the case of this mother who just sued the park after an incident she was a victim of and is demanding an astronomical sum in compensation.
The mother's name is Kimberly Panetta. This 45-year-old New Yorker went with her family to Typhoon Lagoon, the Disney-owned water theme park located in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, in April 2022. It was during this stay that she was the victim of an incident for which she filed a complaint.
A huge wave responsible for her after-effects, she is demanding this crazy sum
While she was waiting in a paddling pool for her daughter to go down a children's slide, she was hit on the side by a huge wave coming from another area of the pool. The impact propelled her against the concrete, causing severe abrasions and deep scratches. For the American woman, this event ruined her family vacation. For the rest of her stay, she was "forced to limp, apply bandages, ointments, and creams," and most importantly, she was forced to avoid swimming and was unable to enjoy planned visits to the park. The complaint states that Kimberly Panetta's legs now have marks and scars that cause her discomfort. She can no longer wear clothing that exposes her legs, even in warm weather. She is claiming $2 million in damages from the company.
Represented by her husband, who is a lawyer, Frank Panetta explains that the park offered the family $250 after the incident and specifies that if his wife had not been there to protect their young daughter, it was she who would have been seriously injured.
For its part, Disney has not commented. This is not the first The water park has faced complaints. In 2024, a customer hit herself on Humunga Kowabunga's long water slide, and in 2021, another suffered a dislocated leg on the same ride. Both sued the park.
