If recent leaks are to be believed, EA FC 26 is expected to arrive in August 2025 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and, surprisingly, on PS4 and Xbox One. After a year and a half of existence, EA Sports FC 25 could therefore live these last few months before passing the torch to its little brother. And this one could have very strong arguments to convince, according to a significant hint dropped by Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts, in a recent call to investors.
A full couple for EA FC 26 next year?
The second opus to have departed from the FIFA license, EA Sports FC 25 had some difficulty convincing its audience, with several elements that were not really to the taste of players. The title has tried to catch up over its life cycle with various major updates. However, it will soon have to go back to the locker room, since EA FC 26 is expected to take over soon.
If we are to believe the CEO of Electronic Arts in a recent call with investors, this could happen in a rather spectacular way. As a reminder, 2026 will mark the highly anticipated return of the World Cup. And it could be entitled to a very special place in EA FC 26. "Looking ahead, the 2026 World Cup would be a major acquisition opportunity and the next defining moment for the franchise, rooted in a deep social connection. A World Cup for the summer of 2026 would represent a pivotal moment for the franchise."
It should be noted, however, that for this to happen, FIFA still needs to give Electronic Arts its blessing. Given the separation between the two entities since EA Sports FC 24, the integration of the 2026 World Cup into EA FC 26 remains uncertain. Alternatively, it could take the form of integrating Euro 2024 into FC 24, with results that have deeply disappointed players. Fans will therefore have to keep a close eye on how EA FC 26 plans to celebrate this upcoming global footballing event.
