We already know about many upcoming games on Nintendo Switch 2, which is scheduled for international release on June 5th. Console owners will be able to enjoy a certain Mario Kart World starting this date. We'll have to be a little more patient before discovering Donkey Kong Bananza, scheduled for July 17th.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will also welcome several titles previously reserved for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox players. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is one of them. The beginning of Cloud's legendary adventure will be playable starting June 5th. Does Square Enix plan to port the next two to Switch 2? Director Naoki Hamaguchi makes a revelation.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and its sequel will be released on Nintendo Switch 2
Naoki Hamaguchi, director of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, participated in Nintendo's Creator's Voice. The opportunity to discuss the port of Final Fantasy VII Remake, which will include the Intergrade DLC in which Yuffie is in the spotlight.
When discussing Cloud and Sephiroth, playable in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the Japanese who joined Square Enix in 2006 slips in a little sentence that future Switch 2 owners should appreciate.
"With the release of the Final Fantasy VII remake series on Switch 2, it would make me very happy to see the two generations come together and bond through these characters," says Naoki Hamaguchi. Square Enix will not leave players wanting by releasing only Final Fantasy VII Remake on Nintendo Switch 2. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth as well as the third and final part of this remake series will indeed arrive on the hybrid console.
Of course, Naoki Hamaguchi does not go so far as to indicate when Rebirth could be released on Switch 2. We imagine that we will have to wait several months before seeing a port of the open-world game that is much more ambitious (and therefore more demanding) than its predecessor at Nintendo.
The third and final part of the FFVII remake series is still in development at Square Enix. The writing of the story is already finished. We will even find the legendary composer Nobuo Uemastu on FFVII Part 3. The game is expected to be released in 2027 if all goes according to plan. Note that this third remake should not be an exclusive, according to director Naoki Hamaguchi and producer Yoshinori Kitase. A simultaneous release on PC, PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 is therefore more than possible.
