Ghost of Yotei is already a hit before its release, despite the controversy

While it had remained rather discreet since its announcement in September 2024, Ghost of Yotei made a remarkable comeback in the news two weeks ago. Indeed, it was without warning that Sucker Punch unveiled a new trailer for this sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, which will officially arrive on PS5 on October 2nd. For the occasion, we were also treated to a slew of information concerning the story and the new features of the game. And without any surprise: the players already seem won over!

Ghost of Yōtei is a hit in pre-orders

As proof, at the beginning of the week, the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game still appeared at the top of pre-orders on the PlayStation Store in several countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom. Big markets for video games, then. Suffice to say, this only bodes well for the launch of Ghost of Yotei, especially considering that this edition is still sold at €89.99. That's €10 more than the Standard version, which generally follows in its footsteps in the list of the most pre-ordered games.

Naturally, however, this ranking has been slightly shaken up by the news of the last few days. At the time of writing, Sucker Punch's title has, for example, been overtaken by the Ultimate Edition of Destiny 2 and by Mafia: The Old Country, whose release date has just been revealed. However, it must be said that this does not prevent Ghost of Yotei from maintaining its good position, as it remains in the top 5 in several countries today.

The public is already responding

Once again, this shows that despite the presence of certain controversies – ridiculous in the case of Ghost of Yotei –, the public is still there to respond. But it must be said, this is not too surprising given the critical and commercial success enjoyed by Ghost of Tsushima in 2020. It is also an opportunity to recall that this sequel will feature a new heroine in a story taking place more than three hundred years after the first game. Thus, even new players will be able to find their way around without any problem.
