Rockstar is sure to cause a media tidal wave with the release of a new GTA 6 trailer. More than a year after unveiling the game's trailer (the most viewed non-music YouTube video in 12 hours), the studio is striking a new blow with a very different trailer from its predecessor, and one that tells us a lot about the upcoming adventure in Vice City.
GTA 6: Trailer 2, media tidal wave expected
Was Rockstar trying to console its community by releasing this new GTA 6 trailer? Just a few days after announcing the postponement of its hit to 2026, Rockstar shows that it hasn't lost its flair for directing by releasing a new 2-minute 46-minute trailer, quite different from the first. Still no in-game footage, but plenty of story revelations. The video focuses on the two main protagonists, Jason and Lucia, and the eventful new life that awaits them after Lucia's release from prison. In this America and all its vices parodied to the extreme, the two lovebirds will want to line their pockets, but through a mission gone wrong, they will run afoul of the local authorities. A classic pitch, but no matter, it's the very essence of the franchise. It will be up to the players to live their own story. With polished direction worthy of an action movie trailer, Rockstar tells us more about this new epic in Vice City.
#4 The storyline: Lucia begins the adventure in prison
The first minutes of the trailer focus on Jason's life in Leonida territory.He earns his keep by repairing roofs, stealing cash registers from convenience stores, pumping himself up on the beach, and downing packs of beer at night. Meanwhile, Lucia is incarcerated in Leonida prison, until Jason comes to get her. Should we believe that the beginning of the game will allow us to control only Jason at first? Perhaps a prologue consisting of the first tutorial missions, before starting the adventure at full speed after Lucia's liberation. Unless it's the introductory cinematic, and the game allows us to play as both protagonists immediately.
#3 A colorful cast of secondary characters
To accompany Jason and Lucia in their quest for profit, Rockstar has thought of a whole cast of incredible secondary characters, allies and villains alike. A habit for the studio that has always shone with its colorful and endearing secondary protagonists. Nerd best friend, wealthy strip club manager, rapper aspiring to fame, seasoned bank robber, drug dealer, social media star—the biggest stereotypes of American vice are all here. #2 Missions that have nothing to envy from previous installments
Attack on vans with rocket launchers, a fight on board a cargo plane, a bank vault pulled by a pickup truck, chases by boat, helicopter (and even plane) and jet-ski sequences, in short, this episode promises more epic and breathtaking missions than ever. The entire quintessence of the license seems to be condensed into the title. The enormous budget spent on the development of the title is already evident in these magnificent images and the depth of the adventure that seems to be offered to us. If we wait until we have the game in hand, Rockstar already announces the color in a few minutes.
#1 A more mature episode?
This new installment, stamped Grand Theft Auto, promises to be more adult than its predecessors. The satire of America through a city plagued by vice is clearly explained in the trailer. Add to that a critique of social media and the influencer model. Rockstar seems to want to add a more political dimension to the title. It's undoubtedly a way to support young players who played GTA 5 12 years ago, now more mature. Never has a trailer for a Rockstar game been so explosive.
