HoYoverse continues to surprise. During its Star Rail Live concert event, the studio behind Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail unveiled a first trailer for its upcoming game. Little information, a lot of mystery... but a concept that speaks to everyone. A Pokemon-like?
A Honkai with a Pokemon twist?
Indeed, it would involve creatures to capture and make fight. Yes, it smells like a Pokemon-like Honkai twist. The video only lasts a few seconds, but it was enough to set the networks ablaze. It features well-known characters from the Honkai universe, like Kiana and Blade, accompanied by animals. A small dog for one, a massive wolf for the other. The two companions seem ready to fight, in a very dynamic and polished style.
No date, no official name, just one sentence: stay tuned. But between recent rumors and clues slipped here and there, many think they already know the title of the game: Honkai: Nexus Anima. For several months, leaks have been suggesting a new Pokemon-inspired game from HoYoverse. The presence of fighting creatures in this teaser seems to confirm the direction taken by the studio. A logical choice, as this type of gameplay remains popular and offers enormous potential, especially combined with the rich and futuristic universe of Honkai. Private accounts on social networks bearing the name Nexus Anima have been spotted recently, which adds even more credence to this hypothesis.
HoYoverse continues to succeed
This new Pokemon-themed project comes as Honkai: Star Rail is already celebrating its second anniversary. The game continues to be a hit, thanks in part to collaborations like the upcoming one with Fate/Stay Night. Meanwhile, Zenless Zone Zero is preparing to celebrate its first anniversary with a major update scheduled for July. Suffice it to say, the studio is in great shape. And if it manages to combine the Pokémon recipe with the quality of animation and narration that we know it for, it could well sign another hit.
