The release of GTA 6 is approaching. If all goes according to plan, the game will arrive on May 26, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X. In the meantime, fans are in a frenzy. They're analyzing every image, every name, every rumor. And the latest theory is rather interesting.
A family connection between Lucia and Luis?
Indeed, fans believe that there is a close connection, probably familial between Lucia, one of the two main characters of GTA 6, and Luis Lopez, a central character in GTA 4 and its expansion The Ballad of GayTony.
It all started on X, when a user, known by the pseudonym GTASixy, shared a series of clues. For him, Lucia would not be a simple newcomer. She could be related to Luis Lopez. She may be his daughter or niece.
Certainly, their last names are different. Lucia's name is Caminos, while Luis's is Lopez. But that's not enough to rule out the theory. The fact is that Lucia could be using a false name. It's also possible that she took her mother's name, a common choice in certain family contexts.
Striking Similarities
The hypothesis seems trivial at first glance. But several details then reinforce the theory. First, both characters grew up in Liberty City, therefore in the same city. Then, they share another important characteristic: mastery of combat.
As a reminder, Luis is a martial arts expert. He fights in clubs and protects criminal figures. Lucia, for her part, wears a boxing glove-shaped necklace in several images of the trailer. Rockstar even specifies that her father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk. This could fit with the profile of Luis, or his brother.
Other clues that reinforce the theory
Indeed, according to some fans, if Luis is not Lucia's father, he could be her uncle. Lucia would then be the daughter of Ernesto Lopez, Luis's older brother. This character is mentioned in The Ballad of Gay Tony. Little is known about him, except that he left Liberty City to start a family. Here again, the pieces of the puzzle seem to fit together. Lucia could therefore have grown up elsewhere, before returning to the criminal world of Vice City (the main location of GTA 6).
Finally, there is another detail that fuels the rumor. Manni L. Perez, the actress who supposedly lends her voice to Lucia, follows Mario D’Leon, the actor who voiced Luis Lopez in GTA 4, on Instagram. Of course, this fact doesn't prove anything; but it's intriguing nonetheless. Why would these two actors be connected? And why now, with GTA 6 approaching?
In any case, if this rumor is confirmed, it would create a solid narrative bridge between two generations of GTA.
