GTA San Andreas: a new feature that changes absolutely everything

GTA San Andreas: a new feature that changes absolutely everything

More than twenty years after its initial release, GTA San Andreas continues to inspire the community. And while the Definitive Edition didn't convince everyone at its launch, it has just undergone an evolution that could well change the game: a virtual reality mod that's fully playable from start to finish.

Total first-person immersion for GTA San Andreas

Developed by Holydh, this new VR mod, available for free on Nexus Mods, brings a spectacular overhaul of the GTA San Andreas experience. Thanks to the implementation of 6DOF (six degrees of freedom), players can now freely aim with all weapons, even during scripted shooting sequences in vehicles. All in first-person view, of course.

And that's not all: snipers and cameras are also supported with zoom management, making precision missions fully compatible with VR mode. In short, everything has been designed to ensure that every sequence of the GTA game is playable in these new conditions, without loss of control or readability. Everything can be downloaded here.

A second life for the Definitive Edition

Upon its release at the end of 2021, GTA: The Trilogy The Definitive Edition was widely criticized for its bugs, unstable performance, and questionable visual choices. But since then, numerous updates have fixed some of the issues. This VR mod, although independent of Rockstar, therefore arrives at the right time to give a new purpose to this re-release and offer it the appeal it lacked until now.

Even players nostalgic for the original version might be tempted. The idea of rediscovering Los Santos, Grove Street or Las Venturas through a VR headset, with modernized gameplay, is simply irresistible for long-time fans.

This project reminds us, if need be, how essential the modding scene is for the longevity of a game. Without necessarily reinventing everything, some creators manage to offer strong ideas, capable of reviving interest in a title that is sometimes forgotten or criticized. This is the case with GTA San Andreas, which suddenly becomes one of the most immersive open worlds in virtual reality on PC.
