Although she is portrayed as a supporting character and a close friend of Harry, Hermione Granger receives significant screen time in all seven films of the saga. She accompanies the apprentice wizard on all his adventures and does not hesitate to put her life in danger to help the hero in his quest. However, the films omit certain details about her personality and change her appearance compared to the description given by J.K. Rowling in the books.
#3 The creation of the S.A.L.E.
This is one of the major omissions in the film adaptation of The Goblet of Fire: Hermione's support for the House Elves and the creation of the S.A.L.E. (for Society for the Aid of Elven Liberation). An entire chapter focuses on her efforts to help the oppressed race. As a reminder, she founded the S.A.L.E after seeing the Elf Winky humiliated and expelled by Barty Crouch Sr. She then organized a vast awareness campaign among the other students, and distributed hats and socks for the Elves to find. An aspect of her committed personality which is therefore omitted in the film. The feature film having preferred to focus its story on the Triwizard Tournament.
#2 She gets her teeth trimmed
While Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) correspond to their respective characters, the young Emma Watson is different from Hermione Granger. Novelist J.K. Rowling portrays Hermione as a young girl with very thick, curly hair, large front teeth that protrude from her mouth, and a rather unkempt appearance. Emma Watson's differences from her character were mainly due to growing up (in the first film, the features are more consistent). Her teeth are emphasized in The Goblet of Fire. After Draco Malfoy casts a spell on her to make her teeth grow out of proportion, she is treated by Madam Pomfrey. But the young witch takes the opportunity to ask her to make her teeth smaller than their original size.
#1 She hates flying on a broomstick and doesn't like Quidditch
While Hermione excels in the vast majority of classes at Hogwarts, she isn't very comfortable with the flying class, and doesn't enjoy Quidditch. A detail that is not revealed in the films, although we never see her on a broomstick, and she appears anxious in the stands at every Gryffindor match.
In the first book Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, J.K. Rowling describes the young student as very uncomfortable during the first flying lesson led by Madam Hooch. She cannot get off her broomstick properly, and does not like the idea of flying in the air. She never shows enthusiasm when Gryffindor plays her Quidditch matches. Example in Order of the Phoenix, where she doesn't always go to the matches.
