iPhone: Big changes expected, Apple makes an important decision

iPhone: Big changes expected, Apple makes an important decision

A small revolution is brewing in Cupertino. Starting in 2026, Apple will no longer release all of its iPhones at once. No more big September presentations where each model is released one after the other. The brand now plans to stagger its launches to better showcase its high-end models... and better manage its production.

First the iPhone Pro, then the others

Apple will start by launching the most expensive models in the fall, as usual. We're talking here about the iPhone 18 Pro and the highly anticipated folding model. Then, a few months later, in spring 2027, the more affordable models will arrive: iPhone 18 and 18e. This change has a simple goal: to make the premium versions shine, without them being drowned in a flood of new releases. And at the same time, it allows Apple to smooth out its sales over the year. A smart strategy.

By spacing out releases, Apple is also seeking to reduce pressure on its production lines. There is no longer any need to mass-produce everything at the same time. It is also a way to review the geographical distribution of assembly. Thus, the high-end iPhone models will continue to be manufactured in China, in highly specialized factories. The more affordable versions will increasingly be produced in India. This allows Apple to diversify its sites and limit the effects of trade tensions between the United States and China.

Real changes in design

2026 won't just mark a turning point in the calendar. The iPhone 18 Pro should also benefit from a major facelift. According to several sources, Apple is planning Face ID integrated under the screen, and a front camera moved to the side. This development would make the Pro models even more visually distinct from the classic versions. The icing on the cake: the first folding iPhone will also arrive in the fall of 2026. It will accompany the Pro models, and will enrich a range that will then include no fewer than six different iPhones.
