Honor is preparing to unveil the successors to the Honor 200 series, and it promises to be a big one. The company has confirmed an official announcement for May 22, but remains vague about the schedule ahead. It presents the Honor 400 as "this year's most exciting AI-powered camera phone." While there's no mention of a Pro variant, several rumors mention the existence of two smartphones that would be distinguished by their price positioning, their sleek design, and their attractive technical specifications.
As is often the case, the Pro model is positioned as the top-of-the-range model, while the "classic" Honor 400 targets the upper mid-range segment. Design-wise, the Honor 400 opts for a more understated aesthetic with a 6.55-inch flat AMOLED display and a straight bezel, incorporating a central punch-hole for the selfie camera. Conversely, the Honor 400 Pro sports a 6.7-inch quad-curved AMOLED display, with a dual pill-shaped notch. The Pro even allows for curved edges where the classic has a more square frame. Thickness and weight also vary, with the Pro being thicker (8.1 mm vs. 7.3 mm) and heavier (205 g vs. 184 g).
Honor 400 Pro and “classic” Honor 400: differences that make the difference
Under the hood, the power is clearly at appointment, but not at the same level. The classic Honor 400 would be powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, an already powerful mid-range chip. The Honor 400 Pro, on the other hand, would move up a gear with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which remains one of the best mobile processors of the moment. The Pro would also benefit from more RAM (12 to 16 GB compared to 8 GB for the classic).
Photography is a key point for this series, as evidenced by the text engraved "200MP AI Camera" on the Pro. The two models would share a 200 MP main sensor and a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle. However, the Honor 400 Pro would stand out with the addition of a 50 MP telephoto lens, offering a more complete camera module. The selfie camera would be 50 Mpx on both devices.
In terms of battery life, both devices will have a 5300 mAh battery, using silicon-carbon technology. The major difference lies in the charging speed: 66W for the Honor 400 and 100W for the Pro.
Finally, the Honor 400 is IP65 certified (splash resistance), while the Honor 400 Pro would offer an IP68/IP69 certification (resistance to immersion and high-pressure jets).
AI at the heart of the experience
Both models rely heavily on artificial intelligence for the user experience. Features like Circle to Search, Magic Portal, translation, and AI summary would be included. The Pro could even integrate Google Gemini and Deepfake detection. AI functions dedicated to photography (Portrait Snap, Image to Video, Eraser, Cut Out, etc.), productivity (Writing Tools, Recorder, Minutes, Subtitles) and even gaming (AI Cooling, AI Performance Boost) are mentioned.
Running on MagicOS 9.0 based on Android 15, they will also offer features like an under-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, and NFC. Interestingly, the camera control button on the Honor 400 Lite doesn't appear to be present on the regular and Pro models.
Exact pricing details are still unknown, but we can expect prices comparable to the Honor 200 series in France. The Honor 200 launched at €399.90, while the Honor 200 Pro was priced at €799.90 at launch.
