Definitely, while we haven't had any news about the franchise for some time, Kingdom Hearts suddenly finds itself in the spotlight. It unfortunately starts with bad news that one of the next games to come, Missing Link, has been completely canceled after a long development and apparently quite a few glitches. Fortunately, after the rain comes the good weather. Certainly in an effort to reassure its fans, Square Enix has finally given news of Kingdom Hearts 4, the next main episode to come that we haven't seen for a long time.
Kingdom Hearts 4 is doing well, very well even!
No trailer or fanfare trailer, this spotlight was simply done on the official X.com account of the franchise. A simple message meant to be reassuring and a handful of screenshots presented in a mosaic. "To our KH fans. We are working hard on Kingdom Hearts 4" begins the press release, which really wants to get straight to the point.
"We continue to fully invest ourselves in development. We are focused on delivering an experience that lives up to your expectations" concludes the first message. It's crystal clear, after the announcement of the cancellation of the next mobile game, Square Enix clearly wanted to be reassuring, and it works.
New mouth-watering images
Fans are thrilled to see that Kingdom Hearts 4 is doing well. Too bad the screenshots shared aren't really up to scratch. We see Sora fighting against shadows, we also see him lost in the middle of a foggy parking lot and his face frozen, certainly surprised by an unexpected discovery. The artistic direction always seems to be a little more realistic than what we are used to from the license. Enough to fuel many theories, but what really piques curiosity is the fact of seeing Mickey, the famous Disney mascot, in what seems to be a playable scene. It could well be that the big-eared hero will not be playable in Kingdom Hearts 4. Obviously, it's too early to sound the alarm, but we believe it.
When will there be a proper presentation?
Square Enix says it is happy to see that all the fans are still responding. As if it were a surprise. On the other hand, while the studio says it is very grateful for all the positive reactions to Kingdom Hearts 4, it is calming the enthusiasm by asking players to be patient. "We are very excited and look forward to telling you more about Kingdom Hearts 4 when the time comes. Until then, we thank you for your patience," the social media post concludes.
Will Kingdom Hearts 4 be featured at the upcoming big events of the year? Good question. In any case, the game is doing well, so that's always something.
