One month before its release, MindsEye has finally shown a little of what it has in store... but not quite in the way expected. It was via a gameplay leak broadcast live on the internet that the public was able to discover the first real images of the game. On the program: open-world driving and shooting sequences. A revelation that comes as an electroshock for a title still largely unknown to the general public.
GTA-Like MindsEye fait leaker du gameplay
Until now, MindsEye had been very discreet. We knew that it was the first major project from Build a Rocket Boy, a studio founded by Leslie Benzies, former pillar of Rockstar North. But despite this impressive resume, communication around the game was practically nonexistent. As a result, many were still unaware of its existence. However, we were able to conduct an interview with the founder a month ago to find out a little more.
And then shortly after, suddenly, a Mindseye video appeared (visible on Reddit). A streamer broadcasts several minutes of gameplay without warning. The footage immediately circulates on social networks and forums. In the clips, we discover car chases, a fairly classic urban environment, and third-person gunfights. Nothing shocking. But nothing really noteworthy either.
A release soon... but a campaign that's almost invisible
Hard to believe, but MindsEye is supposed to be released on June 10. That's in just under a month. And yet, there's no notable trailer. No event. No real public demonstration. Even with a publisher as renowned as IO Interactive, the game seems to be evolving under the radar.
It's all the more surprising given that the timing could have been ideal. With the delay of GTA 6, fans of open worlds are clearly missing out. MindsEye could have filled this vacant spot. Even then, players would have had to be aware of its arrival.
What we see in the leak isn't shameful. The game seems fluid, the classic mechanics hold up. But at first glance, it's hard to see a strong proposition. The universe doesn't yet have a strong identity. And the combat sequences seem very generic. Obviously, it's still too early to judge. These are only a few minutes, taken out of context.
