Netflix, the American streaming giant, has just made an announcement that no one saw coming: the adaptation of a new video game into an animated series. A project that comes after the animated series Asterix and the Battle of the Chiefs by Alain Chabat, which is a hit on the platform.
Netflix and video games, a great love story
Video games adapted into films are all the rage! After the box-office success of the Super Mario Bros. movie, and more recently, Minecraft, which, against all odds, has turned out to be a hit in theaters, Netflix has decided to capitalize on the trend. It must be said that the video-on-demand service knows its stuff. He has already proposed the adaptation of The Witcher, the CD Projekt Red franchise, Arcane, an animated series based on the game League of Legends from Riot Games or Castlevania, adaptation of the Konami game series.
Netflix wants to bring video games to narrative formats. In fact, the platform also has in its catalog season 1 of Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, an animated series in which Hayley Atwell lends her voice to the heroine. The live-action series Assassin's Creed would, according to the latest information, still be relevant and another title from the video game universe has just been announced by the service on social networks.
A popular mobile game soon to be an animated series on Netflix
Indeed, on its X account, Netflix announced that the famous mobile video game Clash of Clans developed by the Finnish studio Supercell will be entitled to an adaptation into an animated series. Launched in 2012 on iOS and the following year on Android, the title allows players to build a fortified village and develop it, then train troops to attack other players' villages. Clash of Clans, with a community of several million active players worldwide, is a very popular mobile game.
