After a Direct entirely dedicated to the Nintendo Switch 2, the Japanese giant's new console is finally coming to us on June 5, 2025. While we already know a lot about it, such as its technical capabilities, various features like GameChat, and the Joy-Cons 2's ability to act as mice, another major feature of the console was still uncertain. Thanks to a video from Koei Tecmo, we now have confirmation that it is indeed present.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is getting even closer to a portable console/PC hybrid
In just over a week and a half, the Nintendo Switch 2 will finally be available in many corners of the globe, including France. It will be able to count on more than twenty games for its launch, including a Mario Kart World at the price that has caused much ink to flow, or even Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition. Flagship games from its big sister will also be entitled to a paid upgrade, while others will be entitled to free updates to take advantage of its more robust hardware or its new social features.
Some so-called Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced games will also benefit from one of the console's new features, namely the use of the Joy-Cons 2 as a mouse. We are thinking in particular of Metroid Prime 4, which lends itself particularly well to this. Thanks to the Koei Tecmo video below on Nobunaga's Ambition: Awakening Complete Edition, available at the machine's launch, we also have confirmation that the device will be able to support a USB mouse.
We can indeed see Michi Ryu, the game's producer, first using the right Joy-Con 2 as a mouse. We see that pressing the SL button allows you to switch the Joy-Con to mouse mode or classic controls mode. Later in the video, we see him connecting a classic mouse via USB to the Nintendo Switch 2. This will then take priority over the mouse controls of the Joy-Con 2. We can thus see that it will be possible to use a mouse with the right hand, and a Joy-Con 2 with the left hand. Finally, Michi Ryu specifies that the console will be able to accommodate a keyboard and mouse combo on the console, to make it a true hybrid portable console/PC, like the Steam Deck or the ASUS ROG Ally.
