This should delight gamers. Opera GX, the web browser specifically for gamers by Opera, is getting a new feature, and not just any feature. Now, in addition to offering features specific to the needs of gamers, Opera GX gives you access to a catalog of free games playable directly in the browser.

To get you playing in its web browser, Opera didn't have to look far. The publisher simply decided to integrate GX.games into its browser. As a reminder, this platform was created in 2022 by the Opera GX teams, in association with GameMaker, a publisher behind video game development software. This allowed developers using Gamemaker to develop their games to then easily publish them on the GX.games platform.

The site, which now boasts a catalog of over 10,000 games, now benefits from privileged access from Opera GX. A new GX Corner button, providing direct access to GX.games, has been integrated into the top left corner of the browser. A new dedicated button, representing a game controller, is now grafted to the left of the first open tab.

Be careful, however, don't expect to play recent, polished titles with shimmering graphics. GX.games offers mostly 2D "casual games." While these titles are probably enough to pass the time, they certainly won't replace your usual titles.

GX.games isn't limited to that, however. The service also offers the purchase of independent games and allows you to stay up to date with new releases. It includes a calendar that lists game release dates across all platforms.
