Paint, Notepad, Screenshot: Microsoft injects AI into its classic tools

With the advent of AI in various fields, Microsoft has decided to take the lead. And this is how users can benefit from a text generator in Notepad and create stickers in Paint with the help of artificial intelligence.

However, while these options are beneficial and very advantageous, not everyone will be able to take advantage of them. Indeed, only those who are subscribed to Copilot Pro, Microsoft 365 or who have a Copilot Plus PC and who have Windows 11 are eligible for these technological advances.

How to use it on Paint?

If you meet these criteria and Paint is still a software that you use regularly, it would be interesting to know how to benefit from AI image generation. To do this, simply click on the “Sticker Generator” button and access the Copilot menu.

Once there, enter a description of the sticker you want to produce and press the “Generate” button. By following these steps, Paint will create several unique images based on the information you have provided. Not to mention that accessing the library is very simple, as you simply have to click on the “Stickers” option in the toolbar.

However, for users who do not have Microsoft 365 or Copilot Pro, Paint already has various AI-powered options. This is particularly the case for layers, background removal, and generative erasure.

New options on Notepad and an additional surprise

Of course, Notepad also has new features. And this will directly concern text generation via a prompt.

To do this, you will need to place your cursor at the desired location, right-click, and select “Write”. Do the same with Copilot and enter your instructions in the dialog box and press “Send”.

Once you have completed this step, the text will appear at the relevant location, and you will then have the choice between keeping it in your document or deleting it. Of course, it will also be possible to refine it by giving new instructions to the AI.

But these advances require a subscription and consumption of AI credits. And this is also the case for this option on the screen capture tool.

Indeed, it can help you take a perfect capture thanks to artificial intelligence. And in fact, this software will automatically identify the interesting part and remove unnecessary edges and spaces.

However, while these features are promising, they are of little importance compared to the promises made by Microsoft. It must be said that during the Build conference earlier this year, CEO Satya Nadella spoke of a transformation of the user experience through AI and AI-driven assistance for all developers.
