RCS enriches messages and advertisers

Receiving advertising via SMS has never pleased anyone (except advertisers, of course!). How about receiving advertising via... RCS? With a billion messages exchanged between Android and iOS devices every day in the United States, the successor to SMS has won the bet of establishing itself in messaging services on both sides of the smartphone market.

Such success inevitably attracts advertisers, who see in the capabilities of RCS a real opportunity to attract consumers. While an advertising SMS generally boils down to a simple text message, it is indeed possible to go much further with RCS: high-quality photos and videos, interactivity...

A specific protocol has even been developed, RCS Business Messaging, which defines a standardized format for exchanging interactive messages between companies and users. Google is obviously on deck with its own solution, but many ad networks have jumped on the opportunity.

This is the case with Clerk Chat, which has developed a "Tinder-like" carousel for RCS ad messages. The smartphone user receives illustrated cards to swipe left or right. It is also possible to obtain additional information (with the help of an AI bot...) and to purchase a product directly from the message. An advertiser's dream, but at the end of the day, it's still advertising that we endure without having asked for it!

On Reddit, an iPhone user was surprised to receive an RCS ad designed with Clerk Chat technology to buy tickets to US football games. Without being able to say no to future messages.
