Samsung intends to democratize features previously reserved for its premium phones. As expected, the Galaxy A56, A36, and A26 will receive several AI-powered features, including the side button to activate Gemini.
Gemini arrives on the side button of the Galaxy A56, A36, and A26
One of the most visible changes introduced by the May update concerns the behavior of the side button. A long press now launches Gemini, Google's AI assistant. This shortcut, previously exclusive to the Galaxy S, is finally arriving on the Galaxy A56, A36, and A26. Users can of course reassign this command to Bixby if they wish, thus maintaining a certain flexibility in use.
A small ergonomic change that illustrates Samsung's desire to standardize the user experience across its entire range. In a few seconds, you access an assistant capable of responding to your voice requests, with natural understanding and a conversational tone much more fluid than what Samsung's assistant is capable of.
Gemini also integrated into Samsung applications
Another significant development: the ability for Gemini to communicate directly with certain Samsung applications. You can now ask it to add an appointment to the calendar, write a note, create a reminder or set an alarm. The assistant understands your instructions, even naturally worded ones, and executes them directly in the Samsung Notes, Calendar, Clock and Reminders apps.
These are welcome additions to the 8 “Awesome Intelligence” AI features already deployed on the Galaxy A56, A36 and A26. The May update also brings the latest security patch, which is always good to have.
